INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2022
International Women’s Day 2022 was celebrated on 8th March 2022 at the Auditorium, Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home. The theme of the International Women’s Day 2022 is “Gender Equality today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”.
The event started at 10 am with a prayer song by the teaching faculty of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing, after which Mrs. Blessy welcomed the gathering.
Presidential address was given by Dr. Devaprasath Jeyasekharan. He highlighted the importance of Women’s day, and the role of Women. Dr.Renu Devaprasath felicitated the gathering. Around 150 members participated in the event which included the Staff and students of various academic entities of the institution, Staff Nurses, and Doctors. Dr. Maya Gopal also participated in the event. Master of Ceremony was done by Mr. Vinish Kumar & Mrs. Alwin Viji, teaching faculty of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing.
Women’s Day special message was given by Dr. Sanjana, MBBS., MD (Psychiatry) Consultant Psychiatrist at Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital. She emphasized the importance of psychological health of women by following a balanced life style which includes healthy food, moderate exercise, and adequate sleep and reduced stress levels.
Dr. Ranjit Jeyasekharan spoke about the importance of Women, and reiterated that the existence of our institution is primarily because of a Woman; Mrs. Rani Jeyasekharan, who shouldered Dr.N.D.Jeyasekharan in the development of our hospital.
An excellent dance performance was given by the students of the College of Allied Health Sciences, which depicted the bravery of Women.
A skit ” விடியாத இரவுகள்”was performed by the staff and students of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, which incorporated in it, a presentation, about Savitribai Phule, a mime, and a group song. These collective events primarily portrayed the importance of education, importance of family, judicious usage of social media and courage of Women.
The Women’s Day wishes shared through email by Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, Vice Chancellor of the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, and Mrs. Kiren Bedi was projected and conveyed to the audience.
Women’s day pledge was taken by all the Women at the event which was lead by Dr. Sarayu Priya, Principal, Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing.
Two staff Nurses of Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home – Mrs. Jeeva and Mrs. Vilcy were honored for their active participation in the COVID vaccination campaign. They were awarded a certificate of appreciation and a memento issued by the Nagercoil City Municipal Corporation.
The faculty and the Students of the College of Nursing who participated in the same were also given certificates and memento. These were distributed by Dr. Renu Devaprasath, and Mrs. Beena Sabu.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Leena Paul Manaohar.
The program ended with the National Anthem lead by the teaching faculty of the College of Nursing. Tea and biscuits were served to all the attendees of the event.
