World Environment Day – 2025
Theme: Ending Plastic Pollution Globally
World Environment Day was celebrated on 5th June 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing, Nagercoil. The event was organized by the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) and conducted by the first-year B.Sc. Nursing students are to spread awareness about the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally.”
- The program began with a prayer, followed by a welcome address delivered by Ms. Subasree, a first-year B.Sc. Nursing student.
- A panel discussion was presented by Ms. Sree Priya, Ms. Iswarya, Ms. Saranya, Ms. Anitta, and Ms. Deepika Nair, focusing on the impact of plastic pollution on oceans, marine life, soil, and land.
- An engaging role play was performed by Ms. Parveen Sathya, Ms. Benshiya, Ms. Jeya Sutha, Ms. Anuciya, Ms. Aarthi, Mr. Sencin, Mr. Abishek, Ms. Shreya, Ms. Subasree, and Ms. Ani Rutheesha, illustrating the harmful effects of plastic and encouraging eco-friendly practices.
- A clear and informative presentation on the theme was delivered by Ms. Princy Maria.
- Poster presentations were also displayed by five students, creatively highlighting the issue of plastic pollution. The best poster was selected and awarded a prize as part of the program.
- Additionally, students participated in a pledge slogan competition, where the best slogan was selected for overall recognition.
- Golden Catherine, professor of mental health nursing, addressed the gathering, commended the efforts of the students, and appreciated their performances and commitment to environmental protection.
- To conclude the event, saplings were planted in the college campus.
