Theme: Know your blood pressure, and control it!
In action of controlling hypertension, Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing took several steps in creating public awareness in prevention of lifelong complications and acute cardiovascular events since it is known to be the single most important leading cause of early deaths due to cardiovascular diseases. Hypertension survey was conducted in various areas to the public by checking their height, weight, BMI & blood pressure (10.06.2024 to 15.06.2024) by Mr. Binni M.Sc(N), Prof. Hepsi Beulah A M.Sc(N), Ms. Arul Sheeha M.Sc(N) & team. Awareness regarding their health status was updated to them personally. Approximately 1,190 people were surveyed in common areas like railway station and community. Health talk were given regarding life style modification, prevention of hypertension, dietary plan (DASH).
CNE was conducted by S. Annlin Smila M.Sc(N) on 12.06.2024 on the following sub topics: incidence, modifiable/ non-modifiable factors, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic features, management modalities in detail. Around 35 staff nurses of Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home took part in the CNE programme.
Competitions like quiz, slogan writing, poster painting, mime were organized by Ms. Ramya B.Sc(N) on 12.06.2024 and prizes were distributed to motivate students. Students took part actively. World hypertension day pledge was recited by various categories of persons like staff nurse, students & public so as to create awareness to take care of their health and that of others.
