INTERNATIONAL NURSES’ DAY 2022
International Nurse’s Day 2022 was celebrated on 12th May 2022 at the Auditorium, Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home. The theme of the International Nurse’s Day 2022 is “Nurses-A voice to lead: Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure Global health.”
The event started at 4 pm with a prayer song by the teaching faculty of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing, after which Dr Mrs Golden Catherine, welcomed the gathering. Ceremonial light was lit by the Chief Guest, Trustees, administrators and Correspondent, Principal and Vice Principal, Nursing Superintendent and Staff Nurse.
The theme of the International Nurses day was unveiled by Dr. Sarayu Priya, Principal Dr.Jeyasekharan College of Nursing. Presidential address was given by Dr. Devaprasath Jeyasekharan. He highlighted the importance of Nurses’ day, and the role of Nurses as back bone of the Hospital. Around 350 members participated in the event which included the Staff and Nursing students of the institution. Master of Ceremony was done by Mrs. Rekha & Mrs. Benzee, teaching faculty of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing.
Chief Guest of the event was Ms.Revathi R, District Revenue Officer, Tirunelveli. She addressed the gathering on the vital role played by Nurses across globe. She emphasized the importance of the role as community health nurse and encouraged to expand their roles in various entities such as district Collector, Revenue Officers etc.
Carnatic welcome dance was performed by Ms.Managala Nimitha, II Year B.Sc. Nursing Student as a sign of welcoming the gathering. Poem recitation was done by Ms.Priya from the ICU Complex. Group Song was sung by nursing staff who had won the first Prize in the International Nurses day competition. Similarly role play of the winning team who had secured first place in the International Nurses Day competition was enacted by the staff of the ICU team.
Prizes were distributed for the winners of international nurses day competitions held from 5th to 7th May. Nurses of Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home were motivated for their excellence in clinical work. They were awarded cash prize as appreciation and were motivated by Mrs.Vanammal, Nursing Superintendent.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Vimalmathy, Organizing secretary of the event.
The program ended with the National Anthem. Refreshments were given to the faculty and the Students of the College of Nursing who participated in the event.
