World Leprosy Day 2026
World Leprosy Day was remembered on 30th January 2026. A special program was organized in collaboration with Director Medical Services (Leprosy), Kanyakumari District at Dr Jeyasekharan College of Nursing on 4th March from 2.30 am to 3.30 pm.
A rally was conducted on 30.01.2026flagged by Tmt R. Alagumeena, IAS., District Collector Kanniyakumari form Collector office to Sir CP RamasamyIyer Memorial Park. The event was attended by the Dr.Girija who serves as a Deputy Director of Medical Services (Leprosy), Dr. Ravi Kumar (Chief Medical Officer), government officials, students of the Dr Jeyasekharan College of Nursing, teachers and public.
The theme of World Leprosy Day 2026 is “Ending Discrimination Ensuring Dignity.”The program was started by chief guest giving away the memento to Dr Jeyasekharan College of Nursing. Dr Girija, Deputy director medical services (Leprosy) gave the special address on leprosy and also took a session on Leprosy. She elaborated on the recent trends,appreciated and encouraged students in their community participation. Poem competition was conducted at Dr Jeyasekharan College of Nursing and prize winners were rewarded on this day. The Program ended at 3:30 pm
