Indian Organ Donation Day Celebration – 2025

Theme: “Be a Life Saver – Pledge to Donate Organs”

Introduction

Indian Organ Donation Day is observed every year on 3rd August to commemorate India’s first successful deceased-donor heart transplant in 1994. The day honours selfless donors who have given the “Gift of Life” and seeks to raise awareness about the vital importance of organ donation.

At Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home, the day was commemorated on 2nd August 2025 through an awareness programme organized in collaboration with the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Main Event Highlights

The programme commenced at 10:45 a.m. with an inspiring address by Dr. Ranjit Jeyasekharan, Trustee and MD (General Medicine). Speaking to patients and their relatives in the OPD section, he highlighted the life-transforming impact of organ donation. His motivational talk was highly appreciated and well-received.

This was followed by a Health Talk on “Organ Transplantation & Organ Donation” delivered by Ms. Sahaya Reshma and Ms. Thanvia, second-year B.Sc. Dialysis Technology students. Their clear and impactful presentation helped convey the significance of organ donation effectively to the audience.
