10th Anniversary Celebration 2024
The JMT-TACT Academy for Clinical Training celebrated its 10th anniversary on 11.04.2024, Thursday at 4.00 pm in the Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital Auditorium.
Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust – TACT Academy was started in the year 2014 with the aim of “Training Care Givers to Save Lives”. It was a privilege to have collaborated with TACT Academy for Clinical Training, Chennai. India’s first Simulation based Health Care Training Center which was accredited to the American Heart Association (AHA). TACT Academy provided both physical and faculty support to JMT – TACT in the initial years, until JMT – TACT faculty became confident and fully equipped, competent and confident.
Since 2014, JMT – TACT Academy has been training and empowering Health Care workers and lay persons to save lives confidently and effectively. More than 2800 personnel have received Basic Life Support training and more than 1000 persons have undergone Advanced Cardiac Life Support Programs. In addition, more than 3000 lay persons have been given CPR and First Aid empowerment. These were service personnel like Policeman, Traffic police, Fireman, Coastal police, Coast Guards / Officers. First Aid & CPR skills are also imparted to College & School students, Teachers, NSS students, Rotarians, Industry workers etc… at nil cost. The aim of JMT – TACT has been to disseminate knowledge and empower people with Basic Life Support skills to save lives.
The Celebration started with the prayer song by the College of Allied Health Students. Followed by a welcome speech by Dr Akshara, MD (Paediatrics), AHA BLS & PALS Instructor.
The 10 years’ work of the Academy since 2014 was presented as a Short Audio-video by the Academy Faculties. The contribution of TACT Chennai and the AHA BLS & ACLS, PALS faculties at JMT-TACT Academy were appreciated and acknowledged. Milestones and Journey of JMT-TACT Academy was presented by Mrs. Jeyalakshmi, MSc(N), MBA(HM), AHA – BLS &ACLS Instructor. It conveyed the academy activities and contribution towards the dissemination of Basic Life Support skills to Health care Professionals and laypersons.
The celebration was inaugurated by lighting of the Kuthuvillakku by the dignitaries. This was followed by felicitations by Trustees Dr. Devaprasth Jeyasekharan, Dr. Ranjit Jeyasekharan and Administrators Mrs. Beena Sabu, Mrs. Sujatha Ranjit, Rotary President of Nagercoil, Rotarian. Sylvester Claious, Past District Rotary Governor, Rotarian Jesintha Dharma and Youth Club Secretory, Rotarian Vijayakumari. The felicitation speeches were inspiring for the faculties, staff and audience.
The introduction of the Guest of Honour Dr.Riaz Ahamed was done by Rotaract President of Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust, Mr. Benastin. Followed by the Guest of Honour speech by Dr.Riaz Ahamed,MBBS, MBA(HM), F.Diab,NHM Coordinator, O/E Joint Director Medical and Rural Health Services Kanyakumari. He appreciated the good work done by the JMT-TACT Academy.
The Chief Guest Dr. N.Ramakrishnan, AB (Internal Medicine, Critical care, Sleep Medicine and Obesity Medicine), Founder & Managing Director, TACT Academy for Clinical Training was introduced by the Academy Chairperson Dr.Renu Devaprasath, DNB (Anesthesia). He delivered the chief guest address. He shared his experience in stimulation based training and his motive in the initiation and inception of TACT Academy, India’s first simulation based training centre. In his speech he emphasized the importance of simulation based training in lifesaving skills and motivated others to learn and utilize the skills in emergency situations.
Followed by the Chief Guest address testimonials were given by 2 staff of Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust Mrs. Shanthi and Mrs. Packia Bai who shared their experiences on how the Basic life support training was useful for them in saving lives in real life scenarios. This was followed by the 10th Anniversary Mementos being presented to all Dignitaries , Academy Faculties and Staff who had contributed their hard work for the academy achievement.
The celebration ended with a vote of Thanks by Mrs. Lettishia, AHA BLS & ACLS Instructor and was followed by the National Anthem. After the program as a part of the celebrations the Basic life Support training was given to Rotarators who came from various areas of Kanyakumari District.
Refreshment was served to all the people who participated in the celebration.
