Anti-ragging And Drug Abuse Awareness Program – 2025

The Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing and College of Allied Health Sciences jointly organized an Anti-Ragging and Drug Abuse Awareness Program on 3rd September 2025 at the Nelson Auditorium.
The objective of the program was to sensitize students about the legal, social, and health consequences of ragging and drug abuse, and to motivate them to uphold discipline while fostering a safe and supportive campus environment.

Pre-Program Activities

To create awareness among students before the main event, various competitions were organized on 12th August 2025:

  • Slogan Writing Competition, where students expressed their views through thought-provoking and creative slogans.
  • Essay Writing Competition, in which participants wrote insightful and inspiring write-ups.Poster Making Competition, highlighting the ill effects of ragging and drug abuse, drew enthusiastic participation.
  • Mime Competition, where students artistically portrayed the harmful impact of ragging and substance abuse through creative performances.

The winners of these competitions were honoured with prizes and certificates during the main program in recognition of their creativity, awareness, and active participation.

Main Program

The program commenced with a prayer song, invoking blessings for the event’s success, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Sarayu Priya, Principal of Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing.

The college had the privilege of hosting distinguished guests:

  • Rekha R. Nanglot, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, delivered an impactful address on the legal implications of ragging and drug abuse. She encouraged students to be responsible citizens, to utilize the Anti-Ragging Complaint Box available on campus, and shared the toll-free helpline number 1800-180-5522 for reporting ragging incidents.
  • Ashok Padmaraj, Advocate, and Mrs. Shahila Praveen, Advocate, sensitized students on the psychological, social, and familial consequences of ragging and drug addiction. Their interactive sessions motivated students to take a strong and informed stand against these issues.

The event was graced by the presence of Trustee Dr. Devaprasath Jeyasekharan and Medical Administrator Dr. Renu Devaprasath, who encouraged students to nurture a ragging-free and drug-free campus culture.

Program Highlights

  • A special MIME performance was presented by Sc. Cardiac Technology I Year students and B.Sc. Nursing III Year students on ragging and drug abuse awareness. The act, showcasing the devastating effects of these issues, was performed with great enthusiasm and left a powerful and lasting impression on the audience.
  • Alin Reshmia. A, a 2nd-year DGNM student, delivered an inspiring speech on Anti-Ragging, further reinforcing the central theme of the program.

 

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. S. Jeyalakshmi, Vice Principal, Dr. Jeyasekharan College of Nursing.
