In a global effort to raise awareness on breast cancer, October has been designated as the Pink Month. The Pink Month is a month where efforts to educate those concerned about the disease, including early identification and signs and symptoms associated with breast cancer.
We the Dr.Jeyasekharan College of Nursing has planned to conduct various programs throughout this month. On 6th and 7th of October, with the guidance of Dr. Maya Gopal (M.D.,D.N.B(O&G)and Dr.Nithila.C M.B.B.S.,MDB(Gen.surg)around 10am we started the awareness programme among the outpatients of Gynecological and paediatrics department through PowerPoint presentation at Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital Bsc(N) IV Semester students has presented the topic among the people and people gained knowledge regarding breast cancer and its preventive measures. We also distributed pamphlets to the people.

EVENT :Screening (Mammogram)
On the 2nd week we have planned to conduct a screening. Advertisement has been given through Instagram and Banner regarding special fee concession for mammogram of Rs.750/-BENEFICIARIES FOR SCREENING PROGRAM – 14 Patients.

EVENT : Walkathon on Breast Cancer Awareness
The staff and students of Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust Hospital,Dr.Jeyasekharan College of Nursing and College of Allied Health Sciences conducted a walkathon on breast cancer awareness on 14/10/2025 starting from collecterote to Dr.JMT. Around 200 members took part in the event. The event was accompanied by Trustee Dr. RanjithJeyasekharan, Dr.Nithila . Dr.RanjithJeyasekharan ,Trustee flag hoisted the walkathon started at 8.30am from collectorate to JMT at 9.00 am.

EVENT : Role play on Brest cancer Awareness
The roleplay on Breast cancer awareness was conducted in OPD On 30.10.2025. Dr.Maya introduced the topic of role play and explained about early symptoms of breast cancer and women were hesitate to consult a doctor due to fear and social stigma. Through interactions among family members, friends, and health care worker, the play highlighted the significance of early diagnosis, medical screening and emotional support from family. Role play was presented by Bsc(N) IV Semester students. The role play was conducted to educate woman and the general public about the importance of early detection and timely treatment on breast cancer. The role play served as an effective method of health education to spread awareness about breast cancer. It successfully communicated vital information in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. The session concluded with a reminder that “Early detection saves lives.”
