INDIAN ORGAN DONATION DAY – 2023 REPORT
“Indian Organ Donation Day” was celebrated at Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home, OPD section on 03.08.2023 to create awareness about Organ donation. The Program organized by Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital and Nursing Home in collaboration with the College of Allied Health Sciences.
The awareness programme started at 10.30 am with the introductory speech by Dr. Ranjit Jeyasekharan, Trustee, MD (General Medicine) on Organ donation and its importance. His motivational speech was very informative to the OPD patients.
This was followed by a health Talk on “Organ Transplantation & Organ Donation” presented to the OPD patients (Adult and Paediatric OPD’s) at 10.35 am by the B.Sc. Dialysis Technology I year student, Mr. Anish and B.Sc. Dialysis Technology III year student Ms. Nithya.
In aim of creating public awareness, a Puppet show on Organ Donation (Tholpava Koothu – Leather Puppetry) by Kalaimamani. B. Muthuchandiran Team was organised at 11.00 am. Puppetry is a traditional form of entertainment which combines live music and storytelling. The Puppet show was very interesting and entertaining and captured the audience attention. The audience enjoyed the puppet show.
In order to create awareness among College students, a poster making competition with the theme “Life is a Gift… pass it on” and Pot painting with the theme “Share your life” then the Rangoli competition with the theme “Life can Begin After Death” were conducted on 28.07.2023 by the College of Allied health Sciences for the students of Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust, College of Allied Health Sciences and Dr.Jeysekharan College and School of Nursing.
The competitions wer conducted with the support of Dr. Ninoo George, MD, DM (Nephrology), Consultant Nephrologist. Certificates & Cash prizes for Prize winners and Certificate of Participation to all the students who have actively participated in the competitions are planned to distribute on upcoming Independence Day program.
Trustees, Administrators, Doctors, HOD of the Departments, Hospital Staff and students of Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust enthusiastically participated in the Indian organ donation day celebration. Tea and Biscuits were served to all the audience. The Program ended at 12 Noon.
