Teachers’ Day & Onam Celebration – 2025

The Teachers’ Day and Onam Celebration of Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust – College of Allied Health Sciences & College of Nursing was held on 4th September 2025 at the College Auditorium from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.

The day commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the Athapoo (Floral Carpet) Competition, in which students from both the Nursing and Allied Health Sciences participated enthusiastically. The colourful floral designs beautifully captured the festive spirit of Onam. The evaluation was conducted by Mrs. Beena Sabu (Correspondent), Dr.Sarayu Priya (Principal), and Mrs. Jeyalakshmi (Vice Principal), who recognized the best teams for their creativity.

The formal programme began at 11.00 am with a Prayer Song by the College Choir, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Gobika R (CT III Year). A graceful dance performance by DT & OTAT I Year students set the festive mood. The gathering was then addressed by the Correspondent, Mrs. BeenaSabu, whose words were motivating and encouraging.

A melodious song performanceby CT III Year students added to the celebration, followed by a MIME on Teachers’ Day presented by the B.Sc. Nursing students. This was succeeded by a vibrant dance performance by OTAT II Year students, and a speech on the importance of Teachers’ Daydelivered by Ms. Renisha (OT II Year).

The highlight of the programme was a skit on Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, by DGNM2nd year, where participants portrayed significant moments from his life, his dedication, and philosophy. The performance served as an inspiring reminder of the values he stood for and why Teachers’ Day is celebrated in his honour. The event further continued with a series of energetic dances by CT I Year students.

The Vice Principal, Mrs. Jeyalakshmi, shared her thoughts on the occasion, reminding students of the noble role played by teachers in society. This was followed by a lively debateon the topic “Teachers Vs Parents”was done by 4th year BSc (N) students, where two student teams argued opposite sides of the motion. The adjudicator evaluated the teams on content, clarity, and presentation, and commended both for their thoughtful points and strong examples.

The Principal, Dr.Sarayu Priya, then addressed the gathering with a short yet inspiring speech, appreciating the students’ efforts and encouraging them to uphold the values of Teachers’ Day.

As a gesture of gratitude,BSc (N) III Year,DT III Year, CT III Year, and OT & AT students presented a performance that reflected the joy and unity of the festival. The winners of the Athapoo Kollam competitionwere then honoured on stage and presented with cash prizes as a token of appreciation and encouragement.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Sanitha DGNM III student, expressing gratitude to the management, staff, organizers, and participants. Both the Nursing and Allied Health Sciences departments graced the occasion with their presence and played a vital role in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.

The celebration was a grand success, beautifully combining the festive spirit of Onam with the heartfelt gratitude of Teachers’ Day, making it a memorable and joyous occasion for all.
