Vascular Access Workshop – 2024
The workshop on Vascular Access Program was a comprehensive and informative event that took place on 24/3/2024 at Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust College of Allied Health Sciences Auditorium. The agenda for the workshop was meticulously planned and executed, covering various topics related to vascular access in dialysis, The programme was organized by College of Allied Health Sciences.
The workshop commenced with registration from 8.30 am to 9.00 am, followed by a session on Vascular Anatomy & Types of Vascular Access from 9 am to 10 am by Dr. Arun Varghese. T, Assistant Professor in Nephrology, Kanyakumari Govt. Medical College. Followed by the session he was awarded with a certificate &complimentary gift by Dr. Devaprasath Jeyasekharan.
The inauguration ceremony began at 10 am with a prayer song by the college choir. After the delightful prayer song, a warm welcome address was given by the Course Co-ordinator Mrs. Jeyalakshmi. During the welcome address each dignitaries are welcomed with a flower bouquet. Followed by the welcome address lighting of the kuthuvilakku done by all the dignitaries with staff and students of College of Allied Health Sciences. Eventually Dr. Devaprasath Jeyasekharan, Trustee delivered a keynote address, accompanied by felicitations given by Dr. Renu Devaprasath, Medical Administrator and Mrs. Beena Sabu, Correspondent.
Lastly, during the inaugural session, Dr. Devaprasath Jeyashekharan also presided over the prize distribution for the competitions held on behalf of The World Kidney Day (Poster, Painting, Vegetable carving and Rangoli) were conducted on 7.03.2024 at college auditorium. The inaugural vote of thanks was extended by Ms. Banupriya, Dialysis technology Tutor at the final scene of inauguration.
Following a refreshment break from 10.30 am to 10.45 am, the workshop delved into topics such as Vascular Mapping by Dr. Geo Naveen Jude, Consultant Anaesthesiologist, Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home (10.45am-11.30 am), Access Planning & Creation, AVF Cannulation, and Complications by Dr. K Rajesh ,Vascular Surgeon, Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home (11.30 am – 12.30 pm), and Perm Cath & CAPD presentation by Dr. Ninoo George, Consultant Nephrologist, Dr.Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home (12.30 pm – 1.15 pm). After a lunch break from 1.15pm to 2 pm, the attendees engaged in a session on Infection Control in Dialysis led by Dr. Aneeta Alexis, Consultant Microbiologist (2 pm to 2.45 pm) and another topic session on Machine Trouble shooting due to access dysfunction during dialysis and its interventions for procedure continuum led by Ms. Alshamol, Dialysis Tutor, Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust College of Allied Health Sciences (2.50 pm to 3.20 pm). Moreover, the resource persons were awarded certificate & gifts by the dignitaries after each session, recognizing their valuable contributions.
A demonstration and hands-on session took place from 3.20 pm to 4.45 pm. There are 5 stations are arranged. Station 1 was Cannulation techniques led by Mrs. Subila Jasphin, Dialysis Department Incharge, Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home. Station 2 was Use of vascular access materials led by Mr. Abin , Lecturer, Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust College of Allied Health Sciences. Station 3 was RO plant maintenance led by Mr. Senthil Kumar, Engineer Alliance, Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home. Station 4 was Dialysis machines led by Mr. Babu Murugesan, Techincal service Manager B Braun Medical Pvt. Ltd. Station 5 was Dialysate and Consumables led by Mr. N R Selvam, Sales Manager RM IWIN Medical Agencies. The moderators were awarded gifts by the dignitaries after the session, acknowledging their benefaction.
A valedictory function began at 5 pm with a prayer song by the college choir and welcome Dance by college dance troupe.Ensuingly welcome addresses given by Mrs. Leethial and the Course coordinator Mrs. Jeyalakshmi distributed the certificates followed by Felicitations by Dr. Ninoo George, Consultant Nephrologist, Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital & Nursing Home and a Vote of thanks by Ms. Alsha, Dialysis Tutor, Dr.Jeyasekharan Medical Trust College of Allied Health Sciences, workshop ended with national anthem.
The workshop was a resounding success, providing an enriching learning experience for all participants and showcasing the dedication and expertise of the speakers and organizers.
