World Autism Awareness Day 2025
Theme: “Advancing Neuro diversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”
World Autism Awareness Day was designated by a resolution passed by United Nations General Assembly on November 1, 2007, highlighting the need to raise public awareness around Autism and to work actively towards empowering and accepting individuals with Autism. The UN General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 was World Autism Awareness Day to remind the society about the need to improve quality of life of those with Autism and help them become an indispensable part of the social fabric.
We the Dr.Jeyasekharan School & College of Nursing has planned to conduct Autism Awareness programs on 2nd April 2025 at Santhi Nilayam, School for mentally challenged. The III year B.Sc (N) students and II year DGNM students along with Nursing Faculty made a visit to Santhi Nilayam and performed program.
We reached Santhi Nilayam at 9:30 am. Around 10am the management gave an orientation class regarding the school vision, objectives, their facility, about their administration etc. We started our program at 10:30am through prayer song by III Year BSc (N) girls; welcome speech was given by Ms. Alin Reshmia II Year DGNM, PPT presentation regarding Autism their major health issues and its management was presented by III Year B.Sc (N) girls Ms. Beni and Ms. Abi Sherine, II Year DGNM students performed a role play regarding management of Autism child. The whole program was scripted by Ms.Jomels, finally Ms.Selvin Benishiya ended the program by vote of thanks.
Students were engaged with the special school children by conducting various games and distributed prizes for each winners. Also we have given refreshments for the special children. The management of Santhi Nilayam and Nursing students were happy in celebrating the World Autism Awareness day together.
